Families sometimes need additional structure and support during parenting time or exchanges. Resolve WNY's Family Access Services provide a professional, child-centered framework designed to support appropriate parent-child contact, reduce conflict during transitions and provide objective documentation when needed.

Services may be requested by families directly or used in connection with attorneys, Attorneys for Children, courts, mental-health professionals and other appropriate referral sources.

Family Access Services May Include

Professional Supervised Parenting Time
Structured observation of parenting time by a professional supervisor who maintains appropriate boundaries and documents relevant observations according to the scope of the service.

Monitored & Safe Exchanges
Structured exchanges designed to reduce direct parent-to-parent interaction and provide greater consistency during transitions between households.

Supportive or Facilitated Family Access
For situations that may benefit from additional structure without requiring a clinical service. Support may include reinforcing established expectations, helping maintain appropriate boundaries and supporting a child-focused environment during parenting time.

Objective Documentation

When documentation is part of the service, Resolve WNY maintains factual records consistent with the scope of the assignment. Documentation focuses on observable information rather than diagnosing participants, determining credibility or making legal conclusions.

Depending on the service, documentation may address matters such as:

• Arrival and departure times
• Attendance and participation
• Observable interactions and activities
• Significant statements or events when relevant
• Compliance with established service parameters
• Interruptions, cancellations or other logistical concerns

Professional Coordination

When appropriate and authorized, Resolve WNY may coordinate administrative information with attorneys, Attorneys for Children, mental-health providers, courts, referral sources or other professionals involved with the family.

The scope of communication and documentation will depend on the particular service and any applicable authorization, referral or court order.

Therapeutic Family Access

Some families require clinical assessment, therapeutic intervention or therapeutically supervised parenting time rather than nonclinical supervision.

Resolve WNY does not represent ordinary nonclinical supervision as therapy. When therapeutic family-access services are appropriate and available, they are provided only through appropriately licensed or credentialed Clinical Affiliates acting within their professional scope.

Families may also be referred to another qualified provider when their needs fall outside Resolve WNY's available services.

Determining the Appropriate Level of Service

Not every family requires the same level of structure. Before services begin, Resolve WNY reviews the referral information, family circumstances and requested service to determine whether the requested service falls within our available scope.

In some circumstances, a different provider, clinical service or higher level of intervention may be more appropriate.

Important to Know

Resolve WNY Family Access Services are not legal representation, custody evaluation, forensic evaluation or mental-health treatment. Nonclinical supervisors do not provide therapy, determine custody, make legal recommendations, diagnose participants or decide whether allegations are true or false.

Family Access Services do not guarantee any particular court, custody or parenting outcome.
